In-Home Care in Independent Living Communities in East Tennessee

Your apartment in an independent living community is your home. Harmony at Home brings non-medical help to that home, supporting the routines you choose while you live among other independent seniors. This service is for independent living—not assisted living.

Independent living is a home, not an included care plan

Independent living communities may offer shared dining, activities, transportation, or housekeeping, depending on the community and the resident's agreement. Those amenities do not necessarily include hands-on personal care. We start by asking what is already included and what you want help with, then discuss a separate in-home care plan. We do not treat independent living as assisted living or assume community staff provide daily care.

Practical help, right where you live

Support is tailored to your needs, preferences, community rules, and our agreed non-medical care plan. Visits may include:

  • Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal care tasks appropriate to the care plan.
  • Light housekeeping, laundry, and keeping frequently used belongings within reach.
  • Simple meal preparation in the residence or companionship on the way to community dining.
  • Non-medical mobility assistance appropriate to the care plan.
  • Companionship, shared interests, and encouragement to take part in community activities.
  • Help organizing everyday routines, errands, and appointment plans.
  • Medication reminders only; no medication administration or medical monitoring.

Keep the choices that make the day yours

Some residents want help getting ready in the morning; others want support with laundry, a meal, or an outing. Visits should fit the resident's preferences rather than impose a facility-style routine. We discuss the tasks and hours that would be useful, review caregiver availability, and adjust the plan as needs change. Hands-on care is arranged separately with Harmony at Home, not presumed to be included in the community's fees.

Work within the community's rules

Before arranging visits, confirm the community's approval and requirements for outside caregivers. Entry procedures, parking, guest access, use of common areas, and emergency contacts all matter. Our services supplement amenities or staff support already available; they do not replace community staff or change the resident's agreement. We do not claim a partnership with a community simply because a resident requests care there.

Know when needs require a different conversation

Harmony at Home is a non-medical agency. We do not provide medical monitoring, administer medication, or guarantee safety outcomes. If needs exceed the agreed care plan or what the community permits, the resident, family, community, and appropriate healthcare professionals should review the options. In-home help does not mean every level of need can be supported in independent living, and it is not a substitute for assisted living or skilled clinical care when those are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is independent living care the same as assisted living care?

No. This service brings non-medical in-home help to a person's residence within an independent living community. The resident lives among independent seniors, and hands-on care is not assumed to be included. This page is not an assisted living service offering.

Does my community already include personal care?

Check your resident agreement and ask the community directly. Amenities vary, and dining, housekeeping, or social activities do not necessarily include help with bathing, dressing, or other hands-on tasks. We discuss gaps without assuming what the community provides.

Can I receive help in my own apartment?

Yes, we can discuss non-medical assistance in your apartment or residence, subject to an appropriate care plan, caregiver availability, and the community's approval and rules for outside caregivers.

Do caregivers give medications or provide nursing care?

No. We can provide medication reminders as part of an agreed plan, but not medication administration, medical monitoring, or nursing care. Clinical needs should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

How do I choose visit hours and learn the cost?

Tell us which tasks you want help with, what your community includes, and your preferred schedule. We will discuss availability, community requirements, and the proposed care plan and cost before visits are arranged. Use Get Started or call to begin the conversation.
